Viscore Ships DFB Laser - Aug 15, 2010
Viscore Technologies Inc., a global photonics supplier with headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, today announced its first shipment of distributed feedback (DFB) lasers to leading clients in China.
Viscore has achieved another significant milestone in its ambitious R&D program, with the completion of design verification cycle for its in-house DFB laser. The first batch of packaged TO-CAN laser samples have been shipped to selected transceiver manufacturers in China for qualification. Additional samples will be shown at CIOE from September 6-9 in Shenzhen. Please visit our booth at the Canadian Pavilion.
"Viscore Technologies' success in the competitive optical marketplace has always been under-pinned by two things - our North American-based technology capabilities, and the large, cost-competitive Asian manufacturing market," explained Leon Liu, President and CEO of Viscore Technologies. "The shipment of our new lasers once again proves this model, by combining the best of both worlds. "
Viscore is already a world leader in Hybrid Photonic Integration (HPI) technology, currently offering the highest density passive hybrid components in the industry. Hybrid Photonic Integration in free-space enables designers of optical systems to use the best technology for each function or component. The result is better performance with lower loss, higher isolation and optimized polarization characteristics in a small package size. It is anticipated that the next-generation laser design will be integrated with Viscore's HPI technology in the future to create novel hybrid photonic integrated components with both passive and active functionality.
Viscore Technologies Inc. designs, manufactures and distributes photonics products that help clients transform optical networks. It provides leading-edge technology, worry-free access to a low-cost, Asian-based supply chain, plus design and engineering services for optimizing optical system product cost and performance.
